Regular maintenance keeps your Mosaic windows and doors performing at their best. Use this checklist annually to preserve beauty and functionality:
Inspect Weatherstripping
Confirm that seals and weatherstripping are still tight and effective. If they appear damaged or worn, contact your local Mosaic dealer for replacements.
Review Finishes (Inside + Out)
Examine painted or stained surfaces. Touch up any chips, wear, or scratches to maintain durability.
Avoid Solvent Contact
When painting or staining nearby surfaces, keep solvents and finishes away from the weatherstripping — chemicals may compromise seal performance.
Inspect Caulking + Seal Gaps
Trim back any aged or loose caulking and reseal gaps with a premium, exterior-grade caulk.
Check for Silicone “Squeeze-Out”
If excess silicone sealant appears along glass edges, gently scrape it away using a plastic putty knife to protect seals.
Tighten Hardware Screws
Check all visible screws and tighten if needed. Lubricate window gears with a dry silicone spray to ensure smooth function.
Clean Tracks, Hinges, and Sills
Remove sand, dirt, and buildup from all moving parts. Use a vacuum or soft cloth.
Secure Screens + Panels
Make sure energy panels, storm windows, and screens are fastened securely with no loose buttons or screws.
Test Door Operation
Open and close all doors — they should glide or swing without resistance.
Wood Door Note
Wood doors may shift slightly within their first year as they adapt to humidity and local climate.
Frequency Based on Location
Homes near coasts or with high weather exposure may need exterior cleaning 4–5 times a year. Drier climates may only require 1–2 cleanings annually.
Clean when glass is shaded to minimize streaking, especially on tinted or coated windows.
Always begin at the highest windows and work your way down.
Soak the glass with clean water to loosen debris. Ensure no abrasives are present before applying cleaner.
Apply with a microfiber cloth, sponge, or applicator.
Wipe dry with a squeegee, avoiding contact between metal tools and glass.
Skip cleaners with strong solvents or high alcohol content — they may degrade materials.
Dry any remaining moisture from the glass, sash, and frame to prevent future wear.
These removable exterior glass panels can be cleaned using the same method as regular windows.
